Typically the covering yarn is Core Spun Yarn (CSY), Single Covered Yarn (SCY), Double Covered Yarn (DCY) and Plied Yarn, and Air covered Yarn (ACY).

Most important requirement for a stretch garment is that apart from Body comfort and fit, it has a natural appearance and recovery from elasticity. While allowing freedom of movement, it shall be breathable and durable. How and where a stretch garment is to be used depends largely on the degree and direction of elasticity, it provides.

The inherent benefits related to Spandex, ensure that it has not only Lifestyle applications, but also has vast and varied technical textile applications. It is used in Sportswear, stretch denim, Bottom wear, Swimwear, Tops [Shirting and Blouses], Intimate wear, Undergarments, Diapers, Socks and leggings.

A swimsuit gives you the freedom to enjoy the waters without you having to worry about a wardrobe malfunction. The bikini or a one piece in a luxurious fabric is great for clicking pictures at the beach but when it comes to picking something that can make you really enjoy your swimming in the waters, it’s spandex swimsuit. There used to be a time in the history of swimwear when practicality and style did not co-exist and if you wanted a swimwear suit that would be super comfortable it was definitely not something that you could show-off at the beach

Things have changed so much since then with spandex swimwear being designed to look chic and entering the genre of athleisure. Even the swimwear material which is now being used by designers lets you experiment with the design of the swimsuit. The swimsuit material is very important and depends on the weight you give to durability, fit and stretchability.

Spandex still remains the top pick for anyone who is really serious about his or her swimming wear.

• Polyester

Polyester swimsuit fabric is not one of the softest swimwear stretch fabric but it is picked up for some of the practical qualities it offers. Polyester blended with spandex gives an improved elasticity to the swimwear and is a popular selection. The best part about going in for polyester is that firstly it is chlorine resistant and secondly its color doesn’t fade off like other swimwear fabrics. This fabric ranks high on breathability, dries out quickly and is quite a low maintenance one.

• Nylon

Another choice for swimwear is nylon which is not as long lasting as polyester and is also not chlorine resistant. Nylon, however, is a lightweight fabric and gives a good fit. Though nylon is abrasion resistant like polyester it does not have good moisture absorbency.

Both of these when paired with spandex fiber gives the wearer a new and freeing swimming experience. These fibers when combined with spandex give birth to a new improved swimsuit which aids in reducing drag in water and simultaneously boosts performance while providing you the maximum comfort and allowing free movements.
